The art of a good Shakshouka is to wait, wait and wait !
If you follow the steps carefully, you will have a great breakfast or brunch. Of course you can add other ingredients to th Skashouka. But not too much. Shakshouka can be eaten as breakfast, brunch and lunch.
Ingredients for 6 persons:
- 3 onion
- 2 rounds of garlic (24 pieces)
- 16 tomatos
- 9 eggs
- Oregano
- Tijm (?)
- 3 dried peppers
First you cut the onions in big pieces and slowly bake them in a big pan on low fire. Do not put the fite too high so the onion can get sweat.
Put some oil, olive oil and raw salt into the pan.
Release the garlic from his shell and put the complete pieces of garlic in the pan.
Twist this around so the onions and garlic can get used to eachother.

After cleaning the tomatos and cutting them in big pieces, you can put this tomatos into the pan as well.
Doing this, the fire is still very low...

Place the cover on the so the ingredients will become soft.
Stir this mix around so the different flavours can get used to eachother.
Now you can cut the herbs into pieces. You will have the time for this.
And here is the tric !

Place the eggs (see picture) on top of this mix and only put some salt over the egg yoke.
Now you can put the herb over the mix and spread this over the complet area.

Place the cover ont the pan and put the pan on very very low fire untill the egg yoke is hard.

This takes about 15 minutes.
Eat the Shakshouka with a lovely piece of bread.
Enjoy your meal !
